AUG 9, FISHING REPORT UPDATE

Fishing report update We're well into Aug now..
We were pretty spoiled with great fishing so far this Summer, let's hope it continues.
Prior to the various weather patterns over the long weekend, very good Salmon was had along the South shore of Lake Ontario, Grimsby to St Catharines. It has been very consistent since late June in 80-150 FOW. Given the incoming west winds and where we are in season, it's likely things will change soon as the mature Salmon will begin to stage for their spawning runs soon. More on that later. Good news we have also recently seen very good fishing a little further offshore lately around 200 fow and further. Running reg size spoons 30-50 feet down, has been producing very well for a mixed bag of Chinook, Coho & Rainbow Trout. Simple colors like Mixed Veggies, Hawg wild, Green Dolphin, Blue Dolphin, Watermelon, Mongoose and NBk are good ones.
Congratulations are in order for the Un Reel team who won the coveted King Of Kings Shootout in Toronto over the weekend. As well, kudos to our pro staff team, Two-Fish who caught a 29lb Salmon on Friday. It won Big Fish Friday, as well as 1st place for week 5 of the Great Ontario Salmon Derby & 2nd for Week 8 of the Silver Salmon Challenge.
On Lake Erie, excellent walleye fishing continues. Good number still coming from all over the Lake. With the water continuing to warm, the thermocline is getting deeper and so are the walleye. Port Burwell, Bruce Stanley and Glasgow continue to be very good. Spoons ( Dreamweaver Super Slims, Michigan Stinger and small Wackm Tackle ) as well as stick baits like Mooneyes, Redfins & Bombers are catching quality fish. Fort Erie, Colborne, Maitland and Nanticoke still has good fishing too. Harnesses behind Jets, Dipsey , leadcore or riggers.
Bass fishing on Lake Erie is still good but they are moving deeper too. 20-35fow . Find the structure/ transition zones and they will be there. Tubes and drop shotting are good techniques.
