Aug Long Weekend Recap
Well let's start with Lake Ontario.
It's been an interesting last few days that has seen periods of very good & very frustrating Salmon fishing around the Lake in various spots. Late last week Grimsby to Jordan was producing very well in 60-100 FOW. Temps were good & the kings were chowing down on big schools of bait in there. Over the weekend things changed & the fishing got tougher for mature kings. As you can see, we have some colder water now in the west corner.
There's still good numbers of fish around (coho, Rainbow, lake trout & chinook) from 100-250 fow. Over on the north shore there has been similar experiences. Bronte & Credit has been hit & miss, same with the stretch along the drop. Pickering to Port Hope has been more consistent in 50-100 fow. As the calendar turns to August, we see the late summer transition beginning to happen. More on this to come later!
Congratulations to team Royal Flush who won the prestigious King Of Kings Shootout in Scarborough on the weekend!
On to Lake Erie Walleye now. The action has been extremely good in the central basin by Port Burwell. Quick limits are being had in 50-60 fow. Spoons working best but success also being had with stick baits.
Moving east, it's a tricky to explain as there are some areas from Nanticoke to Crystal Beach producing well. Some good fishing is being had as shallow as 15 FOW & as deep as 90 FOW, and it's changing daily. Been mindful of the current and how it effects your baits. A down speed / temp unit (like a Fish Hawk) isn't just for Lake Ontario.
Have a great week everyone.
We'll try to keep you updated with fresh information as it becomes available.
