FISHING REPORT UPDATE - AUGUST 26

FISHING REPORT UPDATE - AUGUST 26

We are now into the last week of August already.

With that brings the end of the Great Ontario Salmon Derby.

Congratulations to Johnathon Harrison the overall winner with 31.14 lbs

Also congratulations to Tony Bolger winning the Fish Off with 28lbs.

We are seeing good numbers of Salmon being caught in close all around the lake now & it should be getting much better in the next week or two .

For those not interested in catching the darker mature kings, you can fish offshore for a mixed bag of Coho, Rainbows, and smaller Chinook. Find the bait & you should find the fish. they will be anywhere from 150 FOW to 300FOW. A simple spread of spoons and flasher/flies should produce well.

Over on Lake Erie now the Walleye fishing continues to be very good!

Port Colborne by the Weather Marker, Port Maitland 80-90FOW and Port Burwell 50-65 FOW are all producing very well.

Hopefully your all able to enjoy the weather & good fishing.

Reminder this Saturday is the Strait Line Anglers Club "CATCH THE FRY" Salmon Tournament out of Port Dalhousie. All are welcome to participate!
