Fishing report Update - July 11

Great fishing continues all around Lake Ontario in most ports.

Before we continue its important to stress a couple key points. The info we share is generally generated from the few days info we get. It's all subject to change day to day. Wind, currents & water temps change quickly and have a big impact. For those aren't on the water often or don't have a good network of information, these reports are intended to point you in the right direction for your next trip.

We're seeing/hearing about a few more bigger kings in the mix lately and its showing on both Derby leaderboards. Those wanting numbers of fish and variety of species, Grimsby to St Catharines keeps producing mixed bags for many boats. Chinook, Coho, Rainbows, Atlantic, Lake Trout & Brown Trout are all being caught in similar water 80-150 FOW continues to be good. A few hot baits we're hearing about is White Glow meat rigs and large flashers in low light conditions and mountain dew/chatreuse combos when the sun is up. Black, green & glow spoon patterns (Carbon 14, 42nd & Moon Cricket) are rocking. Flasher/flies combos in similar patterns doing well. When the sun is up, get a chrome Scum Line or Mountain dew flasher followed by a Big Fin, Pro Am or Bam fly.

It's great to see that the walleye fishing on Lake Erie is really getting better every week. Locally, good walleye action being had near the border by Crystal Beach and the Port Colborne weather marker. Nanticoke also still good for eyes mixed in with coho & steelhead. Moving west down the central basin, Burwell to Port Glasgow is very good 50-60 water with quick limits being had!

Smallmouth Bass on Erie still very good too. They are transitioning a little deeper. Tubes, swim baits, Neds and drop shots will get it done.
