June 12 - Weekend Recap Fishing Report

On Lake Ontario now, fishing is very good if you want to catch a mixed bag of fish. Lots of Lake Trout currently it seems from Bronte all the way towards Dalhousie. 80-130 fow is loaded. There are some nice Chinook Salmon in the mix too, the Lakets are just out-numbering them for now. There are Rainbows and Coho too, it's been a little better for them a bit further offshore. Small bright colored spoons 20-40 feet down working good.

The North shore is also producing some Chinook too along the Toronto shores. Herring rigs are producing good fish withBullfrog patterns & white glow flashers in the low light periods & Chartreuse/mountain dew flashers in the sun. One more week until the 2023 Silver Salmon Challenge begins, next weekend is also the The King of Kings Shootout and the Great Ontario Salmon Derby starts July 1.

Over on Lake Erie, the walleye fishing is also starting to get better. Local fish are still being caught shallow, but seems like some migratory fish are being caught further out too. Fort Erie, Nanticoke & Burwell are showing fish. Some good numbers of Rainbow trout off the Burwell area too!

If you are looking to have some simple fun & catch a pile of different fish, the Grand River from Dunnville to Maitland is full of Walleye, Catfish, Carp, Sheephead, Silver Bass and more. Simply go up and down the river, drag a worm, cast a jig/swim bait or troll a shallow diving crank bait & you'll have a blast.
