May 2 - Fishing Report Update
We wait a while for this time to come and the time is NOW!
The Salmon fishing along the south shore is very good now and looking ahead, there is a very a good stretch of weather coming up. Lots of great fishing being reported over the past few days from many depths and locations. 30 FOW to 200 FOW has Salmon. Best action is Dalhousie to the NY border but its expected to see fish spread out more soon. We are hearing of some good fishing Jordan to Grimsby as well. As always, the temperature & water color will be affected by the winds.
Lots of bait moving in now too in different sizes. What does this mean? It means different baits at different time can be effective. Stick baits can still be effective and are still catching lots of fish but both Reg & Mag size spoons are working very good now too. For those fishing deeper, flasher / fly combos and flasher / meat combos producing good also. Color patterns change according to light penetration and water color. Here are a few spoons/patterns that have been working good lately.
Lots more Coho now too! Troll high and fast for these fun tasty fish with mini Coho flasher/fly rigs or small red/orange/chartreuse spoons,
If you still want to catch Brown Trout, there still is lots to be had in shallow 10-25 FOW.
Those venturing over to NY side of Lake Erie are experiencing very good early Bass fishing.
Perch fishing on Lake Erie should still be good too once wind settles.
Walleye season's begin opening in various FMZ's this Saturday and the next couple of weeks. Pay attention to the regulations for specific dates, boundaries and slot limits for each zone
Congrats to local team "Reel'n" who won the Spring King Of The Lake Salmon Tournament on the weekend!
