May 2 - Weekend Recap!
Pretty good weather most of the weekend = some very good fishing all over.
No doubt these next couple weeks can provide some of the best fishing for various species all over Southern Ontario.
On Lake Ontario it's safe to say we are now in the peak time for the next few weeks for very good Salmon fishing. If your from out of town & been waiting, well wait no more! Good reports coming from all over the south shore the last few days. Spoons are definitely the ticket now for pure simplicity. With such a large concentration of fish around they are feeding actively and competitively amongst themselves. Continuing to see more Coho around too.
On the Niagara there is still some very good Steelhead (rainbow) fishing to be had. As well, drifting the mouth of the river is producing excellent Brown trout & Lake Trout action. So much much on lighter tackle!
Perch fishing continues to be good on Simcoe & Erie. Some days it requires lots of moving around to stay on top of them but it's rewarding when you land on them!
Crappie action is good various spots too as the spawn occurs at different times in different water bodies. Tough to beat a small soft tube or scent infused plastic tube under a slip float.
Good catfish action continues as well in the Grand River, Jordan Harbour and the Welland River. One month left to go in the #catfishcapture contest. Keep the pictures coming!
Walleye & Pike seasons are opening soon too in various zones over the next few weeks. Please refer to the fishing regulations for exact dates/locations.
May is here, enjoy!
