Weekend Recap July 18
Another Summer weekend has come & gone.
Over on Lake Ontario, excellent fishing continues in different regions across the lake. As always during this time of the bite can change daily with wind & fluctuating water temps. 80- 150 FOW has been producing steady most days. Sometimes though mid day, treking further offshore can produce.
Recently the morning bite was a little slower the fast days with the full moon & it turn it was a better afternoon/evening bite.

For those wanting some good steady action, there has been a very good mixed bag offshore bite in 200-320 FOW recently. Lots of good sized Rainbows & Coho. Fish are being caught 25-50 feet down. Those 3-7lb coho we were catching in the Spring have doubled in size as they feeding heavily out there & oh are they fun to catch & great to eat.
Spoons in various color patterns like Blue Dolphin UV, Mixed Veggies, Jordo, Habernaro & orange crush have been working very well. Keep your speed around 2.7 MPH to cover water.
On Lake Erie, the Walleye fishing is very good now.
From Fort Erie to Port Colborne, 55-70 FOW has been good. Worm harnesses are producing very well. Color patterns like Cherry Bomb, Anti Garcia, & Blueberry Muffin have been good.
Off Maitland the bite has been better inshore around the reefs & points. Husky Jerks, Bandits, & Yaleye Hooligans have been going well.
Moving west to the central basin, Nanticoke, to the Elbow & around to Pt Burwell the Rainbow trout fishing continues to be crazy good & the walleye action has been good too. More of a spoon bite off riggers, divers & lead core. Stingers, DW superslim & small Wack’m spoons. Greasy chicken, pink panties, NASCAR, cherry bomb & Jordo are working very good.
Very good bass fishing continues on the east end of Lake Erie too. Drop shoting with Max Scent Flat Worms, Grumpy Gobies & Set The Hook Crush Worms.
Have a great week everyone!
