Weekend Recap- May 30 Lake Ontario. Well what can we say we are definitely in transition mode which is typical for late May / early June as the mass numbers of chinook Salmon that spend most of April-May along the South shore begin to disperse. Good consistent fishing should resume again soon in various ports as the thermocline sets up. Judging by reports over the last few days it was very hit & miss from Niagara all the way to Cobourg. A few very nice kings making appearances in different ports along with shakers, mid size kings, Coho, the odd...

Fishing, Lake Ontario, Lake Trout, Salmon, walleye -

May Long Weekend Recap! Any interesting Weekend to say the least. First off we hope everyone stayed safe on & off the water with the various storms that popped up everywhere. On Lake Ontario, the Salmon fishing is getting pretty good once again and we're seeing that the kings are spreading out a bit. Dalhousie to Niagara still seems best from 100-200 generally speaking. Still lots of cohos, some more rainbows, quite a few Atlantics and some big Lake trout. Some more mixed bags catches coming out front of Grimsby/50 point & hearing reports of the same from Port Credit...

How about that weather this weekend!? Great fishing continues for many species, all over. Over the last few days the Chinook Salmon fishing has gotten slower, still around but scattered. But thankfully the excellent Coho salmon fishing continues to be excellent.  Bright orange & chartreuse spoons & mini dodger /flasher fly combos producing very well for the Coho. Also some excellent Lake Trout action being had. Spoons working well for them, but cowbell/peanut fly combos are the ticket for consistent action. This weekend is the St Catharines Game & Fish Association's 8th Annual Port Dalhousie 3x3 Salmon Classic. All the...

Weekend recap! While Lake Ontario was a little sloppy over the weekend, there were some windows of opportunity that some boats took advantage of. Looking the long range weather forecast and the recent satellite images, NOW is the time to be getting out. Seems like Salmon are still being caught in 40-50FOW but they are spreading out now all along the Niagara bar shelf & down the shoreline. While spoons are taking the lions share, it's not a bad idea to start mixing in some flasher/fly & meat rigs / big flashers too. Some nice fish being entered recently in...
