APRIL 1 - FISHING REPORT UPDATE
Weekend recap fishing report Well we have had a decent little window weather lately and things are getting good. Lake Ontario fishing continues to be pretty good currently. The water is 39-40 degrees along most of the Niagara shoreline. Brown Trout fishing the last while has been very good when of course you find the right colored water. A mix of spoons & stick baits are getting it done. A 1 color lead core with spoons has been a very good set up for many anglers. FISHING REPORT UPDATE - MON MARCH 18
With the recent burst of spring weather there has been some very good fishing of late. On Lake Ontario the excellent Brown Trout fishing continues for both shore & boat anglers. Some good numbers of Lake trout being reported as well. And we have even seen a few Chinook Salmon being caught as well ! Elsewhere the Catfish action is picking up on the Grand River. Really good perch fishing is being had on Simcoe & Erie. Crappie are being caught, and suckers are running the creeks too! Looking like a little dip in the weather this week coming up...
Weekend Recap Fishing Report - March 4
Brown Trout fishing is very good right now for both shore & boat anglers! Browns are being caught all along the shoreline, from Fifty Point to Niagara. Trolling in 6-20 FOW has been productive. Small stick baits behind planer boards. Hot patterns are chartreuse, clown, orange & firetiger patterns in the colored water. Small spoons either on a 1 color lead core or behind small divers. EARLY SEASON BROWN TROUT BASICS
With the nice weather lately we are getting lots of questions lately regarding early season Brown Trout fishing. We'll try to keep this brief & informative. Browns in general after fall spawning will spend nearly all winter in close to shore, as well they will come & go from local harbours, marinas , creeks and rivers looking for food.
